“bring back the weird”

For the Love of Art Showcase, 2024.

Inspired by Austin’s old weird, eclectic scene, where a weird creative community thrive.

Featuring art representing Austin’s very own weirdos, to work made with the graffiti and weird vibe in mind, these images are my call to BRING BACK THE WEIRD!

“Prodigal Ties”

The Art of Pleasure Exhibition, 2024.

“Prodigal Ties” was inspired by one of my best friends and her journey through exploring divinity and herself. Tapping into her sensuality and spirituality, she has been to hell and back while learning at the core of who she is.

“Rite of passage”

E.A.S.E. Art Exhibit, 2024.

“Rite of Passage” is my perspective on one of what seemed to be a cultural symbol of growing up a little black girl…the accessories! From barrettes, to beads, to clips, whatever we could find to express ourselves to the fullest.

“Luv bomb”

“A Portal Into the Mind: A Starseed Experience,” 2024.

Have you experienced a love bomb? How it feel to stand in the aftermath? Inspired by experiencing a bad love, this piece was my reckoning with an unfortunate connection that seemed marred by its simple existence.

“Queen B: Lil Kim”

50 Years of Hip Hop Art Exhibit, 2023.

What needs to be said?…

“Battle in the Sewer”

Comic con Vol 2. Art Exhibit, 2023.

Who doesn’t love good Rick and Morty fan based art?

“Flawless”

I Feel Like Bey Art Showcase, 2023.

Given the song “Flawless” as inspiration for a Beyonce inspired piece, I dove into her lyrics and tried to envision Beyonce reaching the pinnacle of her metamorphosis into embracing her must authentic and pure self…a state of flawlessness, where you accept who you are and own it.

“REsilent Seed”

My Art, My Cause, 2022.

Inspired by the good work done at Seedling, supporting mentors who make positive connections with children of incarcerated, deported, or detained parents.

“When I die!”

Rejected! Online Art Exhibit, 2022

Sometimes as an artist, ya work doesn’t get picked and that’s ok. I tend to look at rejection as a delayed accomplishment, while my first attempt to showcase these works failed, I found what seemed to be a fitting exhibit to get into as a testament that while your work maybe rejected in some spaces, it still has the power to be accepted and even praised in others….

“KAOSU”

Comic Con Vol 1, 2022.

Inspired by Naruto, I created a character named Kaosu or “chaos” and envisioned how her circumstances would play out trying to be a part of the Hidden Leaf. Trying to force the issue, she carved the Hidden Leaf into her head, vying for acceptance in a space that didn’t want her. Obsession, turned mad, Kaosu retreats from the light and into the shadow of the rogue. Beware her kiss of death.

“MCSDI”

MAAD City vs Cole World, 2022.

J Cole’s “Middle Child” served as inspiration for this piece. Peep the lyric for context:

“I'm dead in the middle of two generations
I'm little bro and big bro all at once…

Too many niggas in cycle of jail
Spending they birthdays inside of a cell
We coming from a long bloodline of trauma
We raised by our mamas, Lord we gotta heal
We hurting our sisters, the babies as well
We killing our brothers, they poisoned the well
Distorted self image, we set up to fail
I'ma make sure that the real gon' prevail, nigga…”
